Episode 34: The thirsty thirty-fourth episode of the PokeProblemsPodcast, where our old school arcade dreams come to life! We had an awesome time visiting Bit Bar Salem this week, where we spoke to head chef Eric "The" Hammer, front of house manager Eric (yes, two Erics, Miz Sylver is confused!), and Gideon, President of the Bit Bar group. Listen for our full review, but let us just say that we had an awesome time! Rob who runs the Twitter stream is also hilarious, and has agreed to give us an interview "soon"! Follow @BitBarSalem
Bit Bar Salem is a "barcade", a bar/restaurant with tons of arcade games. Bit Bar is located at Bridge St & St Peter St in Salem, and is in the old Salem Jail! It's worth following them on Facebook, and signing up for their email list, since they email out which games will be at the bar. There are about thirty games now, including three pinball machines, but they have about as many again in storage that will be rotated in to keep the experience fresh! The food was also amazing, big props to Chef Eric for elevating it past standard bar fare and offering a wide vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free selection. The Wolf Doctor loved the shiitake spring rolls, and Miz Sylver loved the elk burger! The popcorn snacks were cool too! All the drinks on the menu have great video game names, like Ms. Pac Man (Miz Sylver's order) and the Ghost Eater (the Wolf Doctor's choice). Next time we have to order the Dankey Kang!
We talk a bit about Pokemon Shuffle, which, if you are playing, you need to check out the special events this week. The latest safari has the first in-game shiny's, Shiny Gyrados and Shiny Magicarp, and is ending July 5th. This ties in to the moves based Mega Gyrados competition, also ending July 5th. We also mention a whole lot of news and upcoming events!
This is the big one! The Final Splatfest, Callie vs. Marie, is happening starting at 2 AM PT on Friday, July 22, until 2 AM PT on Sunday, July 24. Miz Sylver will be Team Callie!
Thanks for listening! If you have any questions or comments, we want to hear from you. Have you been to Bit Bar Salem or one of their pop up Bit Fest events? Is Cue Ball Wizard as scary as I make it sound? Are you going to the Sailor Symphony? Tweet, email, or comment on the blog or Facebook to let us know!
