  • It’s Celebration Time!
  • Today and tomorrow are December Community Day. It's a retrospective of the 2020 community days, and also includes the 2019 community day Pokemon! And there's a paid special research event, too.
  • GO Battle League Season 6 ends on Monday, December 14, 2020!
  • Celebrate Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle! There's a special research featuring Shiny Celebi, and Jessie and James are back in the Meowth Balloon! Starting Monday, December 14. Be sure to check out the avatar items inspired by Jessie’s and James’s outfits from Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.
    • Explorer Pikachu makes its Pokémon GO debut, appearing in raids, and it will be the featured Pokemon on Spotlight Hour on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.
    • Pokémon connected to Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle will be appearing in the wild, raids, and eggs from December 14 to December 17, including Hoothoot, Nuzleaf, Drilbur, Cottonee, Dwebble, Durant, Lickitung, Mawile, Flygon, Rufflet, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, and Bonsly.
    • Plus, Jessie and James’s Meowth balloon will be appearing more frequently on December 25!
  • Celebrate Pokémon’s anniversary with a brand-new event—Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto! The tickets are on sale now, but the event isn't until Saturday, February 20, 2021! The challenge will be to try to collect the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto to earn rewards and bragging rights, Plus, you have to pick between Red Version or Green Version. Once you complete the first Special Research line, you’ll be able to access a second event-exclusive Special Research story, meant to be completed over a long period of time, in which you’ll embark on a long and challenging journey to discover Shiny Mew. Plus, if you purchase a Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket for $11.99 by a certain date, you’ll also receive tickets for the January and February Community Day Special Research stories for free!
  • Regirock, Registeel, and Regice will be back in raids during different weekends in December! Regirock is this weekend!
  • Galarian Mr. Mime! The special research is happening December 19 and 20, the ticket will be $7.99.


Players Cup II Finals are streaming this weekend on youtube and twitch, VG and TCG! And you will be able stream Pokemon TV and movies on Twitch now!

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution is now available to watch and buy everywhere.

Pokemon Master Quest episodes are on Pokemon TV.

December Poke-Happenings



Episode 204: the fantastic two hundred and fourth episode of the PokeProblemsPodcast! Tonight we talk news.

In Pokemon GO, there have been some fabulous events! November Nidoran Reasearch Day was fun! Tainan, Taiwan won the City Spotlight Event. Plus, get the free Grand Oak Avatar Item.



The last day for Uxie, Mesprit, or Azelf is December 1st! And, the temporary bonuses have been updated, with increased incense effectiveness and more gifts from your buddy!

There's a lot GOing on in December... The Research Breakthrough is Lapras or Unovan Darumaka, The Legendary Pokémon Kyurem will be appearing in five-star raids, and Mega Raids will be featuring Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar and Mega Abomasnow. In the month of December, Pokémon Spotlight Hour will take place every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 1, 2020: Seel will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, December 8, 2020: Swinub will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, December 15, 2020: A surprise Pokémon will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, December 22, 2020: Snorunt will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, December 29, 2020: Snover will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.

Van and Rashaud are Pure Platinum

Special mini events are happening in conjunction: Catch Mastery Day is October 25, and Alolan Marowak Raid Day is on Halloween itself! And, the GO Battle League: Halloween Cup goes on from October 26 to November 3. Other items of interest!
  • The Day of the Dead celebration will be happening November 1 and 2. It's not clear if trainers will be able to participate worldwide, or if this an exclusive event for trainers in Latin America, so make sure to check!
  • Verizon is sponsoring a special event on November 7, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can sign up until then for a ticket IF you are a Verizon subscriber. Unown V and Z are featured in this event.

Niantic Beyond Reality Contest Grand Prize Winner Jenny Xu



Episode 199: The Niantified hundred and ninety-ninth episode of the PokeProblemsPodcast! Tonight, we have a special guest... Jenny Xu, creator of the many games of JCSoft, Inc. and the Niantic Beyond Reality Contest Grand Prize Winner for her company Talofa Games's Run to My Heart, a social running game that opens your heart to the world! Jenny got her start sharing her drawings on Deviant Art as Chibixi but it soon evolved into creating Flash games, like the horror comedy interactive Pokemon Ball Guy. Her most detailed games made it to mobile under the JCSoft banner: The "Can You Escape?" series, a series of escape the room games crossed with dating sims with a touch of bullet-hell, including "Can You Escape Love?", "Can You Escape Fate?", and "Can You Escape Heartbreak?".
